More Feet HNT
I knew I was going to have a busy week this week so I took some time last weekend to pamper myself: I gave myself a pedicure. And oh boy did I need one! My thoughtful Hubby bought me a Conair footbath/massager thingy for my birthday the year I gave birth to The Captain (you carry a 9 pound 13 ounce baby and see how bad your feet ache!) but I haven't really been able to sit still (with my feet in water, no less) until recently, so it's been getting a lot of use. For those of you who've never had a pedicure, I pity you. Get on the phone and make an appointment for one today. In the meantime, allow me to taunt you with the supreme pleasure it is to have your feet massaged and groomed by a complete stranger:
First you soak your feet in a warm bath making sure to have removed the old nail polish beforehand. Add a few drops of foot oil (mine is from Bath and Body Works, but any foot oil will do fine) and just let them...soak. Feel the jets pulse and stroke the bottoms of your feet like the fingers of your first car date in high school (only not as clumsy. Dear God, man, can't you look at a map before you explore uncharted territory? You're like the Christopher Columbus of crotches).

And of course, since myhellspawn darling children are never far from my side (or my lap) they wanted to join in on the fun. It's a FamilyPedi! Since they are as big a camera whore as their mother getting them to pose for a picture is a piece of cake.

Once your tootsies are nice and soft you now exfoliate them by way of Callous Scrubber Thingy®. Give me a break on the technical terms; I was too tired to do this last night and the caffeine hasn't kicked in yet. You gently rub this Callous Scrubber Thingy® on the rough spots of your feet: the sides of your big toe, your heels and the ball of your foot.
Huh, huh-huh I said 'ball'.
Once that's completed you then massage your feet; work that foot oil into the new, soft tissue that's now exposed. This is my favorite part, mmmm..... Afterwards you'll need to push back the cuticles and trim any dead skin around the sides of the nails (NOT the cuticle itself). Fortunately, there are no pictures of this because, why?

After you've driven yourself into an ecstatic frenzy it's time to dry off and paint the toenails. The first step (and this is very important) is to clean the nails with nail polish remover. This removes any oily residue and ensures your polish will last until the next pedicure. I like to use Orly Bonder rubberized basecoat for a long-lasting finish. Once that dries I apply my favorite color: RUSH 60 second High Speed Nail Lacquer in "Really". I may drive a Granny-Car but my toes are High Speed, by God! Even though it says '60 second' I usually wait a few minutes before applying my top coat, Orly Glosser High Shine Topcoat. Once that dries my toes are beautiful and ready to face the world! If they had a face, that is.
